The Fine Edge of Dentistry is known for its excellent social program. Two wonderful events are planned in Sydney this spring and tickets are limited – register early to celebrate and network in style.
The Opening Ceremony is a grand occasion to mark the official start of The Fine Edge of Dentistry and acknowledges the admission of new RACDS Fellows and Members from across eight regions.
This year, we are privileged to have two distinguished industry leaders speak at the Opening Ceremony.
Dr Heather Cameron, FRACDS(GDP) is the Chief Dentist at the Centre for Oral Health Strategy NSW and will provide the opening address. With a distinguished career built on advocating for the integration of oral health within general health, our newest Fellows and Members are sure to find Dr Cameron’s advice inspirational.
We then have the traditional Robert Harris Oration, to be delivered by Australia’s first Indigenous dentist Dr Chris Bourke, a Gamillaroi man and current Director of Indigenous Science and Engagement at CSIRO.
The Robert Smith Oration explores topics concerning the dental industry’s professional ethics, history, and practice, and this year will look at the role organisations play in delivering better outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Following the formalities of the Opening Ceremony, guests have the opportunity to congratulate and welcome new Fellows and Members at the President’s Welcome Reception. Enjoy light refreshments, notable company and live music worthy of such an important occasion.

Delegates are encouraged to incorporate a sparkling element or two into their attire to bring the Gala Dinner theme to life.
