Masterclass Presenters: Dr Kang Kim (Chief Clinical Officer Noted-Dent) and Dr Arosha Weekakoon (GDP)

Description:

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly embedded in dental practice, practitioners must be equipped with the knowledge and judgment to use these tools responsibly. This masterclass will examine how AI is currently being applied across clinical and administrative domains, the potential risks it introduces, and the safeguards required to maintain professional standards. It will also consider how undergraduate and postgraduate dental education must evolve to prepare future dentists for an AI-enabled profession.

By the end of this session, participants will understand the range of clinical and administrative AI tools currently available. They will gain a foundational understanding of how these tools work, including their strengths and limitations. The session will also focus on how to practise safely in an emerging AI landscape and how these philosophies will need to shape undergraduate and postgraduate training in dentistry

Participants will be able to use AI tools more effectively in their clinical practices while mitigating and accounting for clinical risk. They will also understand the importance of communicating these principles to students, helping to ensure they do not shoulder AI-related clinical risk in the early years of independent practice.
