Dr Sophia Richardson

Dr Sophia Richardson is a Melbourne-trained Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, with international experience. She obtained her Dental and Medical degrees at the University of Melbourne, before completing advanced surgical training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. After obtaining her speciality fellowship, FRACDS(OMS), Sophia chose to further subspecialise in orthognathic (‘corrective jaw‘) surgery and maxillofacial trauma at The Royal Melbourne Hospital (2012), and at The Oxford University Hospitals Trust, United Kingdom, where she was the Senior Clinical Fellow (2013-2014).

On her return to Melbourne, Sophia commenced private practice, and was also appointed OMS consultant at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Monash Health, and The Royal Dental Hospital. In 2020, she opened Queens Parade Specialists, a state-of-the-art facility in Fitzroy North, where she consults and operates. Sophia loves to educate and plays an active role in teaching Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery registrars, medical and dental students, as well as general dentists.

Sophia is committed to excellence in all aspects of her craft, and strives to care for all her patients with compassion and integrity. She is trained in the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, but has a keen interest in oral surgery and orthognathic surgery.

Outside of work, Sophia treasures family time, photography, travel, architecture, and music. She looks forward to participating in overseas surgical aid programs with her husband, a specialist plastic and reconstructive surgeon, and their two children.
