Dr Kang Kim

Kang studied dentistry at the University of Western Australia before starting out in private practice in 2008. He owned and operated dental clinics in metropolitan Perth between 2010 and 2021. He was an Australian Dental Association (WA Branch) Councillor for 10 years from 2009 to 2019. During that time, he served 2 years as ADAWA President.

As President, Kang spoke out strongly against the commoditisation of healthcare particularly in the private dental sector. He also advocated against the growing trends towards managed care. He was invited to speak on these issues at the ADA Members Forum at the Australian Dental Congress in 2017. He received the ADA Outstanding Young Dentist Award in 2019 and a Distinguished Service Award from ADAWA in 2022. Kang currently holds a role as the Dental Clinical Lead for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Tasmania.

Outside of Dentistry Kang was recognised as a next generation director in the Australian Institute of Company Directors magazine in 2018. He received his Master of Health Management from the University of New South Wales and worked as a management consultant for the Big Four consulting firm, Ernst and Young. In this role, he advised government on the management and delivery of health services. He assisted health service managers and leaders to understand their current concerns, identify future challenges and assist them with transformative projects to maintain pace with a fast-changing global environment in the health sector.

Kang has recently transitioned back into dentistry, using his diverse experience to provide management consulting advice for dental practices as a Partner at Cura Health Advisory. He also works as a Specialist Dental Practice Broker at Health Practice Brokers.
